Property Description
São Martinho do Porto is a little Silver Coast gem that sits along a horse-shoe bay just a few kilometres north of the other beautiful resort town of Foz do Arelho and just 10 km south of the ancient fishing village of Nazaré. Nestled in between these two towns’ lies beautiful São Martinho do Porto. Protected from the Atlantic by a naturally formed, shell shaped bay, this delightful resort town offers white sand and calm blue waters to a small but ever growing number of sun seekers. We can’t think of any reason why you would want to leave Sao Martinho, but it is an excellent base from which to explore the rest of the Silver Coast. What sets São Martinho do Porto apart from most other towns is its’ relative tranquil waters, that makes it an instant favourite with families who have small children. The other wonderful thing about the place is how really close all the amenities are in relation to the apartment. Everything is literally accessible on foot and yet, despite this, the town is still so much quieter and more peaceful, even during the peak summer period, when you would normally expect a resort of this high quality to be noisy and a bit boisterous. The cobbled streets that surround the bay are home to a splendid selection of bars, cafes and restaurants that specialize in the freshest seafood and the warmest of welcomes. The UN World heritage town of Obidos is home to some beautifully preserved medieval buildings within the walled bastion that has a history going back to the Roman occupation of the area confirmed by archaeological excavations that reveal the existence of a Roman city called Civitas near the hilltop on which the Obidos village and castle were established. This Roman settlement is most certainly the mysterious Eburobrittium. The Obidos Lagoon and Bird Sanctuary are of national importance (a stunning location with elevated bird observatory and local bird list – accessible by travelling south along the A8 motorway) There are 78 resident species; 46 visiting species and 40 Migrants species so it is a most unusual treat for most. One other really popular use for the Obidos Lagoon, far removed from the sanctuary of course, are the many high-octane water sports it offers. You could spend the whole day water skiing, snorkelling, canoeing, paragliding or simply fishing quietly in some of the more quite sheltered spots along the lagoon. No fishing licence is required so you simply choose your spot at random and enjoy the beautiful and stress-free environment around you. There are a number of little restaurants nestled among the trees along the shoreline where you can get refreshments and also have lunch and dinner at superb low prices. For Surfing enthusiasts, this stretch of Atlantic coastline has long been revered by the surfing community for the outstanding quality of its waves. Peniche is home to “supertubos” and the largest wave ever recorded, rose to 30 meters high near the charming fishing village of Nazaré in 2011. If Golf is your thing, then you have a fantastic selection of 18-hole championship courses to choose from. Praia D'el Rey golf course, which was voted European Golf resort of the year 2007, is a 30 minute drive away and the Atlantic Golf course located in Peniche is about a 35 minute drive due south east from the apartment. In addition, we now have the superb new golfing complex of Bom Sucesso just 6 km away from Praia D’el Rei which offers unparalleled access to a whole range of other sporting activities and some fine restaurants and dining clubs. Vista Mar apartment is in close proximity to the A8 motorway which makes it easy and convenient to explore the whole area by car by striking north via Alcobaça and Batalha en-route to other well-known attractions such as Fatima and Tomar. If you were to travel south on the A8, then within a few minutes, you would arrive at Obidos, the old agricultural town Bombarral in the wine growing region north of Lourinha. The apartment is in the centre of town just over the railway track into the more tranquil zone. It is just a short walk to the beach and literally takes 3 minutes to get there. The beach area, which is alive with activity, has some good quality shops, cafes and bars along the promenade that is so convenient for visitors. Most Portuguese speak some English or French so communication is easy. Do experience some of the finest Portuguese cuisine and wines in town and most particularly the fresh sea food, including lobster, squid, prawns, sea bass and many other varieties. One of the great joys of visiting Portugal is that you can dine in most good places for under GBP £10/- per head for a 3 course meal. Most cafes will do light lunches that are the mainstay for the locals. The quick meals are usually for GBP £5/- or less depending on the wine you choose.

Refundable Damage Deposit Pricing Notes
GBP£200,00 If mid-vacation cleaning services are required, this can be arranged at an additional cost of GBP£50,00 /- per visit. The cost of heating during winter visits or any other cold spells at other times of year, is charged GBP£20,00/- per day. Swim towels extra GBP£2,00 per towel per week. Please check at the time of booking.
  • • 30% Initial deposit payable by bank transfer 4 weeks prior to arrival. Then 70% is payable by bank transfer 4 weeks prior to arrival.
  • • A fully refundable breakage deposit of GBP£200,00 will apply to all bookings. This amount is payable, along with the final rental instalment, 4 weeks prior to arrival.
  • • The breakage deposit will be refunded within 10 working days after leaving the villa subject to any damage or breakage that occurs during your stay.
  • • If you are visiting from outside the European Union, then the breakage deposit should be paid in cash Euros on arrival. The caretaker will inspect the property and refund your deposit in cash Euros, on departure day, provided there is no damage or breakage at the property.

We spent a nice relaxing holiday here in the summer 2016 with our small family of 4. The property has everything you could want with fully equipped kitchen, fresh clean linen, balconies, air-conditioning, access to swimming pool and within walking distance of all shops, restaurants etc. There is a restaurant & cafe within 200 metres of the apartment where we enjoyed light lunches and breakfast. Highly recommended.

If you need a quiet and clean place to stay for vacations, then this one is really nice. It has WiFi, satellite TV air-conditioning and good natural light. We really had a memorable holiday here in late July last year and would probably like to visit again. There is a large shared pool which is visible from the front balcony of the apartment. The kids spent lots of time at the pool. Great location. Thanks to Adilia for help.

Nous sommes venus pour passer quelques vacances à la fin de l'été et nous avons été très impressionnés par l'appartement. Le directeur Adilia était extrêmement charmant et serviable. Nous étions dans un excellent emplacement près des magasins et des installations et la plage est à seulement 300 mètres à pied, donc nous passons presque tous les jours sur la plage ou par la grande piscine. Nous recommandons cet appartement pour vos vacances.

We enjoyed a couple weeks here in August and thoroughly recommend this property for its cleanliness and comfort and nice decor. The kitchen is very well equipped and the lounge has a smart TV so you can surf the net on the big screen. We had some trouble with the sofa-bed in the lounge as it was bit stiff - the caretaker got that fixed very quickly and other than than, it was a really relaxed and enjoyable break. Would love to visit and stay here again in the future. Hats off to the manager who was most helpful.

We visited from Norte Portugal at the end of July and came with car and many stuffs. Location of the apartment is perfect and all facilities are in walking distance including some good restaurants, the beach, and shops, banks etc. The beach is with very peaceful waters due to the protection of the rocks and the shape of the bay so very enjoyable for our little children. Very good place.
